Safety Harbor Museum
The Safety Harbor Museum is a small, privately owned museum devoted to the history of the town of Safety Harbor. The museum is located at 3044 Main Street, in the historic Carriage House next to the historic Victorian Sertoma Club. Located on a barrier island about 40 miles north of Tampa, Safety Harbor is home to about 3,000 people. The area has long been a popular vacation spot and continues to flourish as an economic hub for central Florida’s Manatee-Sarasota region. The town was founded in 1872 by Henry M. McWilliams, an Irish-American railroad surveyor who named it after his wife’s Scottish hometown, “Safety Harbours” because he had discovered a number of safe harbors along the shoreline.
The museum is located next to the historic Sertoma Club at 3044 Main Street and is open from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM Monday through Thursday and from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. For something completely different, venture over to the town’s waterfront and explore the many unique shops and restaurants that make up the historic district. Browse the antique stores and art galleries, peruse the gift shops, have lunch or dinner on the waterfront, and hang out at one of the many bars or nightclubs. And no trip to Safety Harbor is complete without stopping by one of the area’s many nature preserves and bird nesting areas. Link.
For a casual meal with a view of the water, try one of the waterfront restaurants. There are several waterfront dining options, including The Deck at the Harborside Marina, along the waterfront in downtown Safety Harbor. If you’re in the mood for a more upscale meal, try one of the downtown restaurants. The Buccaneer, a popular upscale steakhouse, is located at 3244 Main Street, just a few blocks from downtown. The Buccaneer is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal with a scenic view. Another option is to head to one of the many cities in the area, such as Bradenton, Sarasota, or Bradenton Beach. With so many fun things to do in the area, a trip to one of the nearby cities is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening.
The town of Safety Harbor is located on a barrier island, connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of marsh. St. Andrews State Park, located at the end of Eastfield Boulevard, offers over 6,000 acres of protected wetlands and miles of trails for hiking and biking. St. Andrew’s State Park is also home to the historic “Lost Manatee”, a historic lighthouse that is often mistaken for a manatee. Safety Harbor’s beaches are known for their calm waters and smooth sand, making them a popular place for families and artists to visit. Find more here. There are several beaches in the town, and all are located within a short drive of one another.
The museum’s most important collection is its permanent exhibit, which features a variety of artifacts from Safety Harbor’s history. The museum also features rotating exhibits on various subjects, and an antique car collection that is open for viewing. To learn more about the area’s natural history, visit the St. Andrew’s State Park Nature Conservancy. The park is home to a variety of plants and wildlife and features many miles of trails. The park also features a visitor center with a small museum that documents the park’s natural history.

In fact, a couple of our neighbors saw what they did and then used them on their property. Cleaned up well after cutting several trees and grinding the stumps. B & T did a great job start to finish. I struggled for months to get a tree company to come out and just give me a quote to take down 4 trees. My trees were in a difficult area and the companies that did come out never would give me a quote. All of them made excuses and acted like it was just not doable. B& T responded immediately, looked at the job for 5 mins, gave me a quote on the spot, obtained the permit and cut down all my trees without one issue! They arrived early, worked expertly and efficiently. Had it all down and cleaned up in a 6 hours. The trees were big and between two house, they did it without any problems at all! I have recommended them to all my friends. Everyone is interacted with at the company was wonderful. We had Brian and his crew come out to clean up and maintain our 4 backyard Live Oak trees and they did a wonderful job. M NDecember 12, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If you need a tree cut, trimmed or removed, Look no further. Brian and his crew came out and cut an enormous dying Camphor tree from my backyard and they did a great job. They also grinded the stump and some of the large roots sticking out of the dirt and removed and hauled away everything as promised. I’ve had other tree companies leave large piles of wood chips from the grinder and debris all around. Brian treated my property as his own and made sure it was clean, neat and nothing was left behind. I was worried about power lines and the small gate access but it was not an issue at all not to mention the price was very fair. I highly recommend getting them for any tree needs and their honestly and customer service and professionalism is truly 5 star.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
